Recently, Iqra Bhutto’s TikTok video went viral, which she filmed it inside the Sindh Assembly. The video resulted in quite the outrage from other members of the assembly.
If you are wondering who Iqra Bhutto is, you’re not alone. Apparently, this girl is the younger sister of Dua Bhutto, who is a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and an MPA of the Sindh Assembly.
Even though Iqra deleted the video, it still managed to make rounds on the internet and invited a lot of criticism.
This viral TikTok video has triggered many influential people. Shamila Farooqui, a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, criticized Dua Bhutto for being irresponsible for bringing her sister to the Sindh Assembly and violating the SOPs.
Highly irresponsible behaviour of #Pti mpa #Duabhutto 4 bringing her sister & turning #sindhassembly hall into a film studio for @tiktok_us videos! Violating all sop’s! Only 25% members allowed to attend in this medical emergency & this is what they do! pic.twitter.com/ECopSZQKFU

Moreover, as the internet was busy flooding the sisters with criticism and calling her tone-deaf, Dua went to Twitter to post an apology on her and her sister’s behalf.

She explained that she brought her sister to the assembly while she attended the meeting. It is quite amusing that the lawmakers of our countries have to babysit in the provincial assemblies! Though there’s nothing wrong with it per se. But making a TikTok video, while we have security threats? That is a point to ponder.
She further clarified that she had no knowledge of the video before it was posted but she got it taken down as soon as she became aware of it. She claimed that Iqra was oblivious to the fact that she can not film a TikTok video in the assembly’s lobby. After the controversy of Hareem Shah’s TikTok in the Foreign Office / PM Office, we find that a little hard to believe.
What do you think? Was this truly an unintentional mistake or is there a story behind it? Tell us below in the comments!
