The on-going coronavirus pandemic has flipped our lives upside down. Many people have turned to the internet to keep their minds off the stressful crisis. Social media platforms like TikTok have become super popular, with over 700 million active users worldwide. This has also given birth to Pakistani TikTok stars like Kanwal Aftaab.
Lets admit it. Pakistanis have never been one to shy away from jumping on the bandwagon of the latest social media trends. Among the long list of ordinary people that became celebrities on TikTok are our very own people, living amongst us and making 15-second videos to put smiles on our faces every day.
But there’s also a downside to this new-found popularity, as we have found out in the case of Hareem Shah, and now, Kanwal Aftab.
Who is Kanwal Aftab?
Kanwal is a hugely successful YouTuber and TikTok star, with over 6 million followers! Her videos are widely popular, not just in Pakistan but world-wide.
However, the young star has recently been the center of a new wave of controversy. This all started when a man from Lahore claimed to be married to her. While Kanwal has denied their alleged marriage, the man isn’t all too pleased with it and has come forward to sue her.
Shamsher Nawaz, a fellow TikToker and Kanwal’s alleged husband, has prepared a lawsuit with his lawyer, who claims that the couple has been married since 2017. Shamsher also claims that Kanwal has married another man, and wants nothing to do with her.
Furthermore, Shamsher has also sent a “legal” notice to the TikToker.
While her fans are defending her honor on various social media, by calling out Shamsher’s claims to be a cheap publicity stunt, there are a lot of silent speculators who have just sat back with a bucket of popcorn and want to get to the bottom of it!
